Dwarf Minke Whales, Great Barrier Reef Australia, June through July, 2009

The Minke Whale is both the most inquisitive and friendly whale towards humans and at the same time it is also the most heavily hunted in the world.

In May of 2009 MMCTA was awarded matching donations from Hunter Hall Ethical Managed Funds and the James and Gretchen Sandler Family to begin composing life-size photographs of the Dwarf Minke Whale for our upcoming Norway exhibitions in August, 2009.

The field expedition lasted five weeks and as a result the largest most detailed photographs of Minkes were composed. They debuted three weeks later in Oslo, Norway on August 14, 2009.

Unless otherwise stated all photographs were composed by Bryant Austin using the Hasselblad H3D 50 mega-pixel camera.
